Well I have just found a problem of sorts with my new backup strategy. I was checking the Event Logs on the servers today and started finding this message:

However if you haven’t taken a backup since at least the ‘backup latency interval’ number of days, this message will be logged every day until a backup is taken. You can take a backup of any replica that holds this partition.
By default the ‘Backup latency interval’ is set to half the ‘Tombstone Lifetime Interval’. If you want to change the default ‘Backup latency interval’, you could do so by adding the following registry key.

I seems that by using imaging to create my backups, Windows Server 2003 sp1 does not know it has been backed up and starts complaining. This is a new feature that was added to with sp1 according to this article. I will have to look around and see if there is a way to disable the message. The article does explain how to change the amount of time before it is displayed, but not how to disable it.
